Call for Papers on Learning Innovation

Learning More Festival 2026

FEI – Future Education Institute

Learning and Technology:navigate change with intentionality

The Learning More Festival, organized by the Future Education Institute in Modena (FEM), invites innovators, researchers, educators and learning professionals to contribute with research papers, practical experiences, and critical reflections on learning themes in an era of cognitive technologies.

How to learn to become citizens and professionals of the 21st century?

In an era characterized by immediate and ubiquitous access to information and the abundant spread of "intelligent" tools, we face a challenge: to choose and do not suffer technological solutions.

The ways we learn, teach, and build knowledge are transforming: evidence of this includes the emergence of an entire sector of environments, tools, and content (EdTech), and the application of general-purpose technologies (AI, open hardware) to educational contexts.

Call for papers: the topics

Our Learning More Festival, in collaboration with FEM, opens a call for papers with the purpose of bringing the scientific study of learning to a new level of impact for people, professionals, and organizations.

The goal is to study solutions that intentionally and effectively unite technology, knowledge objectives, and transformation, as well as critically explore the potential and limits of emerging educational and general purpose technologies.

Track 1 – Disciplinary Innovation
Track 2 – Learning and Artificial Intelligence
Track 3 – Guidance, skill mismatch, and dropout prevention

This track welcomes contributions that explore the intentional and grounded integration of technology and transformative solutions in content, methods, and spaces of (inter-, trans-, cross-) disciplinary learning.
We therefore ask you to propose experiences, quantitative or qualitative studies, research experiences, on adoption, use and evaluation of tools, methodologies and contents in forma, non formal and informal learning contexts – schools, universities, vocational training centres, corporate academies, professional training, and individual learning.

Particular interest in experiences that exploit specific digital affordances to develop skills and deep knowledge; empirical research on the effectiveness of specific tools or methodologies; theoretical reflections on epistemological changes that technology introduces to disciplines; case studies of innovative implementations in real contexts.

We seek contributions that explore how to design experiences that harness AI's potential while maintaining focus on developing critical thinking; that represent solutions to balance automation and human agency; and that address ethical issues, bias, technological dependency, and equity in access.

We particularly welcome contributions that focus oncollaborative intelligence and AI literacy: how to develop competencies for effective AI partnership, including prompt engineering, knowledge repository exploitation, and strategic AI tool selection. We are interested in research on learning with and through AI - exploring how humans and artificial intelligence can enhance each other's capabilities to create more powerful learning experiences.

Relevant are both studies on the use and effectiveness evaluation of specific AI tools (educational chatbots, intelligent tutoring systems, content generators), research on changes in skills required in the AI era, reflections on new roles of teachers and students, and analyses of implications for assessment and certification of learning. We also encourage contributions that demonstrate AI's transformative potential for personalized learning, accessibility, creative problem-solving, and knowledge discovery.

This track welcomes contributions focused on methodologies and digital tools used to support the development of conscious choices and pathways aligned with society's required competencies.

We invite experiences that leverage technological and methodological innovation to enhance the effectiveness of guidance across educational transitions - toward upper secondary school, university, ITS Academies (Italy) and tertiary vocational, and the job market.

We are interested in contributions that move beyond the mere provision of information, and instead foster metacognition, self-awareness, and life design skills. These may include the use of data-driven approaches, predictive technologies, digital platforms, and personalized guidance models.

Particular value is given to guidance interventions with demonstrated impact on reducing dropout, improving student-pathway matching, building transversal skills, and adapting to labor market changes. We also welcome reflections on new guidance models in the era of AI and automation.

Educational institutions and business organizations face growing challenges in knowledge management, information circulation, and the effectiveness of the decision-making processes.

This track explores how digital technologies, innovative organizational practices, and approaches based on specific practices (e.g., service design) can transform schools, universities, and companies into "learning organizations."

We seek contributions that demonstrate effective strategies for enhancing collaboration, replicating best practices, and managing and sharing knowledge within work teams.
We are interested in both digital organizational transformation experiences, research on the impact of collaborative tools on organizational culture, and reflections on new models of leadership and governance in the digital era.

The pervasive use of digital technologies in everyday life raises crucial questions for individual and family well-being, particularly among younger generations. This track addresses the contemporary challenges of navigating digital life in parenting, relationships, and self-regulation.

We invite contributions that explore evidence-based strategies for intentional, balanced, and effective use of technology - going beyond prohibitionist or techno-enthusiastic approaches. Relevant research includes studies on the psychological and social mechanisms behind phenomena such as doomscrolling, infinite scrolling, FOMO, digital social withdrawal, and the development of relationships with artificial agents (AI buddies), as well as educational interventions involving families, schools, and communities.

Special consideration will be given to contributions that: foster digital wellness skills; promote critical media literacy; create educational alliances between families, schools and the educating community; tackle disinformation, polarization, and radicalization, including the reinforcement of opinions in echo chambers; support parents and educators in understanding and managing digital risks; offer theoretical reflections on autonomy in the algorithmic age.

Evaluation criteria

Contributions will be evaluated based on:

  • Relevance to festival themes
  • Methodological quality and rigor of the approach
  • Innovation and originality of the proposal
  • Impact on individuals, organizations or communities
  • Practical applicability and transferability of results
  • Clarity of presentation and effective communication

How to participate

Participation involves two phases:
